The project is perhaps lost during the tracks geared towards more mainstream, radio-friendly hits. Deviating from being entirely avant-pop, 'Palaces' grips on to Flume’s steadfast electronic sound, creating a record that feels innovative, yet entirely his. On 'Palaces', Flume expertly blurs the line between left-field avant-garde production and accessible pop music, capitalising off fo the burgeoning genre of hyper pop, all while remaining uncompromising of his vision and artistry evident since Flume’s beginnings. I'm aware of the discourse of this album but I'm just so happy to hear this album 6! years after his last album.The 13-track LP highlights Flume’s ability to push the boundaries of a genre he helped to define, all while never losing the gentle house tones and sense of introspection intrinsic to his sound. I've personally yet to give a Flume album/mixtape less than a 9 and I'm not about to start now. IMO he took a lot of inspiration of HTIF, Skin, and self titled. Not the most original sound, which for Flume isn't a slight, but a lot of progressive stuff considering it's a major release. Production quality is somehow the best I've heard from Flume, which is saying a lot. This is first impressions so all feel for me right now.

Makes me wanna cry relative to how I felt to how Skin ended. I take it back, if there's a remix can we get one of this. Hard to judge cause we heard it at Coachella but don't feel more or less of it after hearing it at Coachella and when the single got released. Sirens: Let's get this out the way, Caroline Polachek's voice is amazing and this is a good song solely cause of that.So far the song I want Flume to remix the most somehow Was skeptical at first but ended up loving it. If that's the case appreciate it, but can appreciate the sound on it's own as well. Love Light: Damn this song was a risk.If it's the worst song on the album it's a solid praise for the album. Leaning towards miss but could easily change after some more listens. But like SOPHIE it's a huge hit or miss for me. Feels like a big SOPHIE influence which I appreciate. Only Fans: Oh boyyy after all the hype here it is.Jasper's Song: Beginning of it reminds me of light Aphex Twin if that makes sense.At the end of the song, this might be the best song so far.
I like how this is a minute longer than Wall Fuck but I think I'm ok with this because back then we weren't ready. But because I have Wall Fuck's "experience" I appreciate this much more the first time around. Def have the same emotions to the first time I heard Wall Fuck. I see why people compare it to Wall Fuck. Kinda also a brainchild of Skin and HTIF but not as well executed of DHLC. So far the highest variance song of the album.
